My Background

Imogen completed her bachelor degree in both Australia and Hong Kong, and graduated from the University of Newcastle, Australia, with first class honours. She is a 2016 recipient of the prestigious New Colombo Plan scholarship, awarded by the Australian government to high achieving students. Her thesis explored the treatment of stuttering in Mandarin Chinese, and has since been published and the findings presented internationally. Imogen has a particular interest in the development of speech pathology services in Asia.

Imogen has experience working with children and teenagers in both school and clinic settings, addressing issues related to speech production, language development, social skills, fluency, feeding, and voice. Imogen believes strongly in taking a play based approach to therapy, and understands that learning happens when children are having fun! Imogen is certified in the Hanen Centre’s ‘It Takes Two to Talk’ program, for parents of late talking children, Gina Davies' 'Attention Autism' course, and is a Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) trained clinician.

Imogen’s experience working with adults includes accent and intelligibility coaching for both ESL learners and actors. She also has experience in the treatment of fluency and voice disorders. Imogen has practiced in both acute and rehabilitation hospital settings, working on both communication and feeding with adults following cerebrovascular accident or similar.

Imogen strongly believes that every person deserves individualised support to best achieve their communication, social, and academic goals. She values each person’s diverse range of strengths and the way these can be used to empower change and growth in an individual.

Imogen uses pronouns she/her.
